March 8 (mod1s) - Long-form movies will soon be accessible on smart TVs, billionaire Elon Musk said, after Fortune magazine revealed that social network X intended to launch next week a TV app for Amazon (AMZN.O), opens new tab and Samsung (005930.KS), opens new tab customers.
The platform launched out an early version of video and voice calling for certain users last October, after Musk had indicated he hoped to make it into a super app providing services from chat to peer-to-peer payments.

"Coming soon," Musk remarked in a quick comment on X to a user's posting that the platform's long-form films could be seen directly on smart TVs.
Earlier, Fortune suggested the app may appear similar to the TV app given by Google's Youtube. It quoted an anonymous source as stating Musk was intent on competing with YouTube.
X did not immediately reply to a Reuters request for more information about the app.

In the quest to become a "video-first platform", X has been developing connections with the likes of former Fox pundit Tucker Carlson and former CNN presenter Don Lemon.
The platform, which has battled to keep advertisers amid controversy ever since Musk purchased it in 2022, announced this month it will permit marketers to broadcast video advertising adjacent to some content providers.
